I have been trying to solve a more complex problem, but decided to first prove my code works for a 1D time-independent problem that is non-linearly coupled between two unknown functions, phi and c. The two equations are -\kappa \partial ^2 \phi / \partial x^2 = \gamma * c* exp(\alpha (\phi_1 - \phi - \phi_0 ) D d ^2 c / dx^2 = - \beta * d ^2 \phi /d x^2 with boundary conditions on domain x [0, L] c(0) = c_0, \phi (0) = \phi_0, dc(L)/dx = 0, d phi[L] /dx = 0 kappa, gamma, D, …

Have you been able to figure out what the issue with your code is?
