Hi, I am currently working on a flood forecasting model with DOLFINX. What is currently do is refining the mesh in areas where the terrain is more complex. I was wondering if there exists a relatively easy way in DOLFINx to also locally refine the DG order in areas where there are for example quick changes in the gradient?
This is not natively supported.
Depending on how much of a priority this is for you, you could maybe use fenics’ submesh interface, and increase the polynomial order on the submesh patches.
Requiring material from Integrating over interface between two functionspaces
I have a vague memory that someone wrote a prototypical workaround or implementation to get local p-refinement. I feel bad for summoning him here, but I’m pretty sure it was @dokken. Hopefully he can give more information.
Thanks for the answers! It is not a priority for me, more something that would have been cool to look at if it was relatively easy to implement
I’ve got all the pieces. I’ll try to cook something up tomorrow as this has been on my mind for a few years now, and should be resolved.
