Adios2 ubuntu 24.04 updates from fenics ppa problem

After recent update from fenics ppa (it was libadios2 updates) paraview has been removed from system.
The installation of paraview from apt is not available now:

The following packages have unmet dependencies:
libadios2-mpi-plugins : Breaks: libadios2-mpi-core-2 but 2.9.2+dfsg1-13build3 is to be installed

We had to upgrade to adios2 2.10 to activate adios2 (fides) support in dolfinx.

You should find paraview is now updated for the new adios2 version.

Thank you for the answer. I have installed the new version of paraview from fenics ppa, but it have a problem with icons. See attached image.

Thanks for letting me know. One option while waiting for it to be fixed is to upgrade your installation to ubuntu 24.10 (oracular). That might not fix the issue, but it’s something that could be tried.

But a simpler thing to try first: could you try installing libqt6svg6 and see if that fixes it?

If not, try installing libqt6svgwidgets6.

Let us know if that helps.

Thanks a lot! Installing libqt6svgwidgets6 helped me.

Great to hear.

Just to be precise, do you mean libqt6svg6 alone did not fix it?

I did some experiments. Actually, libqt6svg6 is enough to be OK. libqt6svgwidgets6 is not needed.

Thanks Oleg, that’s good feedback, Normally the package build system identifies these dependencies automatically. I’m not sure why it didn’t in this case. Something about the Qt architecture and the way it accesses svg I guess. I’ll work out how best to set the package dependency permanently.
