GUIX and Dolfinx

Hello,
Congratulation for the 0.7 release, it will be useful for us to use it.
We are using Dolfinx in our software for simulate Fisher-KPP models on landscape.
We are writing a GUIX module for manage the installation and I wonder if we are writing a GUIX module installing the dolfinx library (python and c++) ?
thanks for your answer,
regards
Olivier Bonnefon

Hi Oliver,
I am not aware of any FEniCSx developer who is currently using GUIX, and neither of specific requests from users about that. You are welcome to try writing a GUIX module for the installation, and get in touch with me (privately, if needed) to let us know how that goes.

Cheers,
Francesco

Hello Francesco,

Thank you for your answer. We succeed to write an guix cook in the
hpc-non-free gitlab (inside inrae/mse.sce). We based it on the dolfinx
version 0.6.0 because we don’t yet able to use “nanobind” with guix.

Regards,

Olivier Bonnefon

Hello,
The guix cook is now available for dolfinx version 0.7 (inside the guix directory of the mse project on https://forgemia.inra.fr/) and I hope for future versions, because many build-tool-python are now available for guix. This allow us to use dolfinx as kernel simulator in our applications and software. These guix procedures allow us a easy use on many linux distribution.

Olivier Bonnefon
