Dear all,
I am studying a problem where a fluid flowing in a channel interacts with a rigid body, which is only allowed to turn about a point. This works well with ALE, but when the current and reference configurations differ too much, the elastic model breaks down.
So I incorporated remeshing, which seems to work well. However, I observe some ‘kinks’ in the fields (velocity for example) at the remeshing events. These are caused by the interpolation between old and new mesh at the remeshing events. See an animation of the dynamics here.
I observe that
- kink amplitude goes down as the mesh gets finer
- only vectors with small norm are affected by the kinks
Is this a typical behavior in remeshing ? If so, may you please suggest some smoothening techniques commonly used to smoothen out the kinks?
Thank you!
